About You've Been Cupcaked
"You've Been Cupcaked" was founded after I decided I wanted to share my cakey creativity with others. Starting out mostly making all sorts of yummy cupcakes in my mother's restaurant "Sara J's" in Wallingford, CT I took my love of creating yummy food and evolved it into creating edible works of art. YBC specializes in the fun, nerdy, and awesome. I would love to talk about creating a cake or cupcakes for your special occasion. YBC is NOT a full scale bakery and is just a teeny tiny subdivision of Sara J's. The majority of my work is through Special Orders, however Sara J's occasionally offers a small selection of confections in restaurant if you are craving a sweet treat. Check our social media pages to see if anything is on hand. Sara J's does NOT have cakes readily available, If you would like a cake or decorated cupcakes you MUST special order them.

It all started in September 2007. I saw a cake on a magazine in the grocery store and decided to make something like it for my mom's birthday. I went out, bought all the supplies and failed HORRIBLY. Long story short, I wasn't even remotely sure what I was doing and poured a ton of batter into a huge pan, expecting that to work. The cake burnt on the outside and was still a soupy mess on the inside...I was so upset I flung it across my kitchen, collapsed on the floor in a dramatic fashion with tears filling my eyes, and vowed at the top of my lungs never to make another cake ever again....the rest was history.
After my theatrical debut into the cake making world, I slowly started to learn from my (MANY) mistakes and self taught myself through crazy amounts of trial and error. It has been a tremendous scale of "ups" and "downs", but an experience that I wouldn't trade for the world. I have found something that I love to do and have met SO many great people along the way.
My style is a lot of adorable, a bunch of nerdy, with a touch of pretty. I specialize in one of a kind designs, especially super cute animal cakes, geeky video game & movie themed cakes, delicious cupcakes, and smash cakes.
